The Camp Counselor Lead is responsible for providing the highest quality experience and safe care to the children of members and guests during all children’s camp sessions.
* Works as a liaison between the camp staff and Camp Directors.
* Ensures the safety of the children at all times by checking all children continually.
* Greets each parent and child in a friendly and courteous manner.
* Supervises and entertains all children in Camp Programs in the safest manner and in compliance with the highest standards of care.
* Oversees the security system for signing children in/out of Camp Programs.
* Completes a camp safety check-off prior to campers arriving (to be done with the Camp Directors).
* Ensures that all equipment function properly and do not present safety or infection hazards to children and removes any equipment or furniture that is broken or present an actual or potential hazard to children.
* Is aware of ages and skill levels of all campers and is able to adjust any activity to suit all campers without proper notice.
* Ensures that the proper curriculum is followed by all counselors.
* Ensures the safety of all participants, including ensuring that all practice areas are free of hazards and that materials and equipment are in safe working order.
* Maintains a positive attitude, patience and adaptability in order to work through any situation.
* Communicates with direct supervisor on any issues that may arise and also communicates with parents of any challenges or injuries that may have happened in addition to filling out the correct communication forms.
* Returns and cleans all equipment used to its correct storage place after completion of camp along with keeping the camp room picked up and cleaned.
* Understands and initiates the emergency procedures for evacuation of the Child Care area and procedures for lost, missing or abducted children if necessary.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Experience in the operation of childcare services or a related facility preferred.
CPR Certification and recent AED training
Basic First Aid Training Certification
