The Assistant will be responsible for working within an office environment to support the agency with the required tasks to complete the position’s responsibilities.
Purpose of Position/Summary: The Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC) enforces the civil rights laws of the State of Indiana.
We investigate complaints of discrimination and educate organizations, companies, landlords, associations, and individuals on their rights and responsibilities under Indiana Civil Rights Laws.
The Administrative Assistant 1 reports to the Director of Special Projects of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC).
They support the Executive Director and Director of Special Projects through assisting the production of reports based on data and the coordination of activities between the ICRC with external partners.
The Assistant will be responsible for working within an office environment to support the agency with the required tasks to complete the position’s responsibilities.
This is a position which requires experience in an office environment creating and/or maintaining established procedures.
In this role you may be working independently, performing various responsibilities, problem solving, and providing a wide range of functions.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Analyze gathered information including comparative information and statistical information • Establish effective working relationships with coworkers, clients and/ or the public regarding the work of the ICRC • Performs related duties as required Job Requirements: • Ability to build knowledge of the principles, practices, and the past and current trends of Civil Rights Field on a state and national level • Ability to secure and analyze data • Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing • Minimum 6 months of administrative experience • Specialized knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of administrative management • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing • Ability to prepare concise and accurate reports • Ability to establish cooperative work relationships with a variety of stakeholders • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft 365 • Ability to problem solve and create solutions Difficulty of Work: Work involves gathering and analyzing data.
