Responsibilities
Prepare and/or draft legal documents in a timely, appropriate manner
Assist in preparation for and attend mediations, hearings, depositions, and trials
Assist clients and attorneys with document production and document management
Draft and respond to written discovery requests
Follow-up on assignments in order to meet deadlines
Organize and maintain client files
Review and monitor updated statutes, codes, and authorities specific to the Litigation Practice Group
Document submission to federal and state agencies and courts, including electronic filing
Plan and schedule meetings as needed
Maintain calendars for active cases (i.
e.
, discovery, hearings, trial dates, etc.
)
Demonstrate effort and commitment to clients, as well as be an effective advocate for clients
Communicate directly with clients, witnesses, attorneys, court staff and administrative staff documenting significant communications
Knowledge of software specific to litigation group (i.
e.
, CaseMap, TextMap, document management and review software (DISCO), West Law, LinkBuilder, etc.
)
Effectively identify, research and analyze legal and factual issues; cross-check and validate information
Obtain medical authorizations and medical records
Review and summarize medical records
Maintain records regarding medical expenses
Any and all other duties as assigned or needed
Qualifications/Requirements
5+ yrs.
experience in litigation required
Paralegal degree, certificate or BS/BA degree preferred
Knowledge in the areas of document management, E-discovery and trial preparation
Knowledge of DISCO or other document management software
Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Office 365 including Excel, Outlook and Word, as well as Kofax Power PDF Advanced Power PDF and Adobe Acrobat
Knowledge of document management (IManage) program
Knowledge of time entry software (Aderant) and expense reimbursement software (Chrome River)
Knowledge of comparison software (Change-Pro/Microsoft Track Changes)
Observes strict confidentiality in both client and law office matters
Positive team player, independent self-starter, takes direction well and accepts a challenge
Professional attitude and excellent customer service skills
Outstanding interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team environment
Excellent organizational, prioritization and written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate good judgment and discretion
Generate high-quality work, with exceptional attention to detail and proof reading skills
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, adapt to new assignments, meet deadlines and maintain poise in a fast-paced, highly demanding environment
Willingness and desire to attend training classes to maintain and increase technical skills
Regularly report to work and adhere to designated work schedule
