Organics Waste Compliance Manager Summary The Organics Compliance Waste Manager is directly responsible for ensuring the compliant growth and management of Envita's organic waste management program.
This role will serve as the subject matter expert to and provide guidance in areas related to compliance, regulations and documentation of organic waste and recycling management.
This role is ideally suited to a self-motivated individual who is excited by the opportunity to rise to frequent and diverse challenges.
Proactive with thorough knowledge and ability to research laws, regulations, governing bodies, and requirements relating to the food/beverage industry and develop best practices in conjunction with our operations teams for the growing catalog of industries Envita services.
This person will also be responsible for maintaining regular communication with our legal partners, operations/program managers, and other team members as needed to ensure all compliance requirements are met.
How You'll make an Impact Ensures health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes and always acting in a safe manner Partners with Envita operations teams to provide guidance on organic waste management Monitors 3rd party organic supplier partners and ensures material sent from Envita customers is done so in a compliant manner Conduct internal and external audits as necessary to assess regulatory compliance General understanding of FSMA regulations Implement and monitor compliance and record keeping procedures for regulatory required management activities Responsible for quality assurance activities and documenting internal non-conformance and out-of-specification conditions, investigating root cause, recommendations for corrective actions, and appropriate decisions for improvement Support continuous learning and development of operations team responsible for day-to-day management of customer organic waste materials Proactively follow up on and track new and changing laws and regulations, as well as what and how it affects our organic products and categories.
Leverage contacts within other departments to deliver action steps to the customers and operations/program managers and ensure company compliance overall, in a timely manner Utilize continuous improvement methodologies and projects to improve and streamline management processes of customer materials and suppliers Support initial review of new and potential vendors Support initial review of customer procedures relating to organic waste and recycling materials Develop and monitor internal waste assessment program to support compliant management Ensure internal waste management practices are consistent with customer guidelines Responsible for assessing final disposition treatment methods of waste materials Update job knowledge by studying trends and developments in quality management; participate in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal and professional networks Envita believes that each employee makes a significant contribution to our success.

What You'll Need to Succeed High School Diploma or equivalent required Bachelors Degree in related field preferred Minimum of 2 years' experience with Food Safety, Food Waste Compliance, Waste Compliance, FDA regulations or equivalent area of focus required Minimum 1 year experience in hands-on management of organic compliance program preferred This is a compliant and regulatory focused position Hands-on experience working with organizations or regulations including but not limited to, FDA, USDA, FSIS, EPA, state department legislation and animal feed nutritionists.
Thrives on focusing on the details, while being able to concisely drill down to the most imperative information and report out appropriately at a high level Strong dynamic communicator Passion for learning, increasing understanding of compliance and regulations, and is able to take that knowledge and educate the team Ability to prioritize needs across many initiatives within a quickly growing company; also need to weigh requests with ROI Highly skilled in troubleshooting, problem solving, and root cause analysis on process issues Proven ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team Highly motivated person who can multi-task and handle workload with accuracy in a fast-paced environment Require a general knowledge of manufacturing methods and equipment Strong hands on skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
