The Position
The Field Partner (FP) is a field-based position that primarily functions to lead the field-based Scientific Liaison team, with the objective of gathering external medical insights, delivering medical education, and other critical scientific exchange in support of both healthcare professionals as well as Roche scientific support groups and local business teams.
The FP will recruit, hire, coach, develop, and train the Scientific Liaison team while ensuring the team is functioning consistent with policies and procedures of each activity.
The FP will work closely with teams across medical affairs and commercial (sales/corporate accounts) field teams to provide insights and align field-based activities to medical strategy.
As a medical affairs leader, the FP will also play a key role in growing and strengthening department level MSA culture and capabilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Personnel Management:
Ensure team members possess the necessary medical or scientific background, knowledge, and expertise, providing any required training.
Create an inspiring team environment with an agile and open culture.
Provide direction, coaching, and development opportunities.
Analyze resource requirements and justify headcount changes as necessary.

Field-based Scientific Liaison Team:
Gather and communicate insights from the field-based Scientific Liaisons regarding the real-world use of diagnostic instruments and tests, informing medical strategy.
Co-develop regional field plans aligned with the medical strategy.
Establish medical customer engagement plans for Local Regional Leaders (LRLs) and key national accounts.
Provide and coordinate responses to customer inquiries by contributing to the development of educational tools and materials.
Collaborate with other Medical Science Affairs (MSA) colleagues to develop and implement successful customer engagement strategies at conferences, congresses, symposia, and other large meetings.
Contribute to the development, modification, and execution of policies and procedures related to field-based activities.
Support field personnel training on technical and disease area knowledge for Commercial and Medical colleagues.
Maintain knowledge of applicable research and literature.
Address unsolicited requests for information about unapproved products or off-label information, if necessary.
Ensure regulatory and legal compliance, including appropriate documentation for team activities.
Maintain proper documentation and record-keeping for the team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
2+ years of leadership experience, preferably managing people or related roles.
PhD in Science + 2 years of relevant work experience (clinical, research, managed care, industry), OR
Master's Level Degree in Science + 5 years of relevant work experience (clinical, research, managed care, industry), OR
Bachelor's Level Degree in Science + 7 years of relevant work experience (clinical, research, managed care, industry).
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of diverse industry medical affairs experience in various roles (field, strategy, operations) is strongly preferred.
Extensive industry customer-facing field experience is strongly preferred.
Cross-functional experience in commercial, sales, marketing, or service is an asset.
Previous formal people leadership experience is preferred.
Candidates without formal people management experience may be considered if they have extensive mentoring/coaching and other informal people leadership experience.
Knowledge and external network in the molecular diagnostics space (clinical, in hospital, outpatient, and POC testing) is strongly preferred.
This is a field based position and can be located anywhere within the contiguous United States
